SAUCONY KINVARA - The Kinvara has been Saucony's most efficient and versatile running shoe, thanks to its weight and durability - light enough for a racer and sturdy enough for daily training. The upper has been improved with a better fit through the mid-foot, while retaining the roomy toe box. The forefoot of open mesh gives it an airy. The midsole has a livelier feel thanks to the combination of the Everun topsole added in Round 8 and tweaks to the midsole shaping. The outersole is thoroughly dialed in after 9 attempts, carbon rubber at touchdown and under the metatarsals, and being one of the pioneering brands for toughened foam Saucony has nailed it again. Of course the Kinvara's greatest strength is fast running and number nine continues to deliver. Updates the Kinvara 8.
Testers: "Light and springy, with a good stable feel to it. Fits well with good room for the toes. Tough enough for daily training and light enough to race in."

SEPTEMBER 1 - The trail race La via di Annibale Sky Marathon in Usseglio, near Torino, is the highest running event in Europe, reaching 3305 meters (10,843 feet) of altitude. The course retraces Hannibal's route during the invasion of Italy in 204 bC. The crossing of the Alps with elephants was daunting, to say the least. It involved the mobilization of between 60,000 and 100,000 troops and the training of a war elephant corps, all of which had to be provisioned along the way. The alpine invasion of Italy by Hannibal was a military operation that would shake the Mediterranean world with repercussions for more than two decades. www.laviadiannibale.it |
