RUNNING SHOES REVIEW

HOKA CAVU - Hoka is known for their highly cushioned shoes, less so for a tuned ride, but the Cavu is their latest model to reside in this arena. The upper is engineered mesh, mostly closed with strategically placed openings over the toes, lateral saddle, and most of the medial side. The tall midsole features foam which is slightly firmer in the forefoot than the heel, allowing a cushier feel on touchdown and a livelier feel on toe-off, which is quite an effective sensation. The outersole features RMAT under the toes and in the heel, while the midfoot is toughened foam. The full contact geometry makes the shoe very stable and distributes the wear evenly. The versatility, light weight, and reasonable price make the Cavu an effective and affordable high-mileage/recovery running shoe. New shoe.

Testers: "Well cushioned as expected, even gives a little extra at toe-off. Good fit with a really smooth interior. Cushy enough for recovery runs, but light and snappy enough for daily runs."

Sizes: Men 7-13, 14, 15; Women 5-11
Weight: 9.0 oz. (men's size 11); 7.1 oz. (women's size 8)
Shape: semi-curved
Construction: Strobel slip-lasted, EVA Strobel board
Geometry: full contact

THIS MONTH'S RECOMMENDED EVENT

OCTOBER 7 - In Italy there are ten officially recognized and protected prosciutto varieties. One of these is the "prosciutto di San Daniele", crafted with an ancient artisanal process that embodies centuries of tradition. Its name and characteristic sweet flavor that has travelled unchanged through time comes from San Daniele del Friuli, a small town near Udine. The Marcia tra le colline del prosciutto (Fun run across the prosciutto hills), with its several featured distances, will offer runners the possibility of exploring this beautiful corner of Italy. What is the weather like in San Daniele? It is ideal for running but also for hams, thanks to the alpine wind with its resiny notes, salty sea breeze and humidity.
