FROM THE EDITOR

A few Italian running clubs turned their cancelled event into a virtual run (run the distance where and when you want, and you will receive a diploma), but - for the most part - organized races in Italy are still not back yet due to public gathering restrictions still in place. For the third month in a row we didn't have any race photos to choose from for the "ePodismo" cover, so we got creative and asked runners to share their running pictures from the lockdown.

Our request did not fall on deaf ears: as a matter of fact, we received just over one hundred photographs for this month's cover image, and chosing the most representative one has been a real competition the likes of which we have not enjoyed for months. After a quick initial sorting to make sure that the images actually met the requirements (that is, they captured a running moment during the health emergency period), the next step was to check size compliance and then the picture's focus, resolution and background. From the one hundred photos we received, we remained with a few dozen, which were then put to the vote to narrow down ten finalists. It wasn't easy, also because Italian runners are all terribly photogenic, but in the end we chose for the cover the photo that portrays Giuseppe Donadei participating in the virtual "Resisti Run" ("Resistance Run") in his own backyard.

To our subscribers and to those who read "ePodismo USA" online, our best wishes for everything to go back to normal soon.

RUNNING SHOES REVIEW

NEW BALANCE 1080v10 - The 1080 is one of the longest running neutral running shoes in the New Balance line. Version 10 takes a little detour from the DNA of the shoe, but hones in on function and purpose in big way, justifying the visual departure. The oversized midsole takes its cues from recovery shoes that have been successful in the market, including other models within the New Balance line. The fresh foam formulation once again proves very effective here. The upper features an accommodating stretch mesh with an Achilles tendon friendly heel design which flares away from the rearfoot to eliminate friction at the ankle collar. The outersole design jigsaws with carbon rubber, blown rubber, and exposed midsole, placing durable rubber at the heel and toe, while the geometry of the midsole and generous pods of blown rubber fill in the gaps, simultaneously keeping the weight down. The ride, fit, and feel, create a synergy which makes the 1080v10 a winner in both the update and performance departments. Updates the 1080v9.

Testers: "Nice cushioning with a cloudlike ride. Upper wraps the foot with a barely there feel. Handled mileage without mushiness, even some of my faster running. Great for recovery days."
