RUNNING SHOES REVIEW

SALOMON PREDICT RA - The Predict RA is the apex of the Solomon running shoe line. Because of its appearance and fit, it has the feel of an up-tempo shoe, but is more than equal to the task of daily running. The upper features a closed mesh fabric with welded overlays providing support, a little extra welding supports and shapes the forefoot, keeping material clear of the toes. The heel features the smooth shaping and structure provided by a manufacturing partner which specializes in bras, so the rearfoot fit is particularly good. The tongue conforms well to the foot, allowing a secure and effective fit, enhanced by the articulated lacing. While appearing a bit spare on material, they are comfortable and testers didn't notice any hot spots or discomfort. The midsole is a single density compression molded EVA, shaped for articulation, which is firm but surprising resilient and protective. The outersole is blown rubber in the mid-foot and forefoot, with carbon rubber in the heel. The end product is a high-quality running shoe which stands up to high mileage and offers good comfort. New shoe.

Testers: "Firm but comfortably cushioned ride. Nice smooth fit, just disappears on the foot. Durable enough for daily training and fit nicely into my rotation."

THIS MONTH'S RECOMMENDED EVENT

AUGUST 25 - The Frasassi caves are among the most visited natural curiosities in central Italy. Discovered by a group of Ancona speleologists in 1971, the caves are particularly rich with stalactites and stalagmites, and they include a number of named chambers, such as the "Cave of the Bats", the "Great Cave of the Wind", the "Ancona Abyss", the "Room of the Infinite", and the "Room of the Candles". The Trofeo Grotte Frasassi is a 12k run along the valley of the Sentino river, in the proximity of the caves. The run starts from San Vittore delle Chiuse di Genga, approximately one hour from Ancona in the Marche region.
