IN ITALY WE RUN LIKE THIS

Rather than awarding each kid with a very democratic participation ribbon after the finish line, this northern Italian running events provides all the young participants with the same bib number 1, to make them feel champions right from the start.

RUNNING SHOES REVIEW

ADIDAS ULTRA BOOST ST - The Ultraboost ST update focused on maintaining its strengths - cushy high mileage, while improving mid-foot function and support. The upper retains its Primeknit mesh, stretchy and supportive. The fit conforms nicely to the foot without constriction. The saddle trades the stiff plastic logo stripes, for a soft knit band which supports while hugging the midfoot. The forefoot bunion window and fused toe bumper continue as before, testament to their proven efficacy. The full Ultra Boost midsole continues as before, bouncy and well cushioned, shored up medially by a rubbery laminated support from outersole to saddle. The wide base and thermoplastic Torsion System add to the stable ride. The outer sole is stretchy Continental rubber, with good durability but only as thick as necessary. The minor changes to round two continue to offer a stable ride for high mileage - as well as before, and just a bit better. Updates the Ultra Boost ST.

Testers: "Lots of cushion with a good amount of support. Fit well to my foot, great for lots of miles."

THIS MONTH'S RECOMMENDED EVENT

NOVEMBER 5 - Located on the "toe" of the Italian peninsula and separated from the island of Sicily by the Strait of Messina, Reggio Calabria, also known as "the city of Bronzes" (after the Bronzes of Riace that are testimonials of its Greek origins) and "the city of bergamot" (a variety of oranges exclusively cultivated in the region) is the oldest city in the region. Each year the course of the Reggio Calabria Half Marathon, along its promenade, dotted with rare magnolias and exotic palms, allows runners to discover the beauty of this city, once an important and flourishing colony of Magna Graecia.
