ALTRA INSTINCT/INTUITION 4.5 - Altra has created a variety shoes that cover multiple platforms, all with the same message of their foot shaped forefoot and zero drop. The Instinct (men) and Intuition (women), is one of Altra's earliest models, version 4.5 an intermediate update, here focused on the upper. The upper is a closed, engineered mesh which provides plenty of room in the toes and breathes well, particularly over the toes, where an outer layer of open mesh releases heat and moisture. The lining of the shoe features a waffle-like design, allowing the fabric to wick moisture away from the foot. The eyestay has an additional layer of synthetic leather to reinforce the lacing, without hindering the flexibility of the shoe. The midsole is a low profile layer of A-Bound foam, topped by a soft EVA Strobel board, and a polyurethane insole which all combine for a plusher feel to an otherwise firm ride. The outersole is a tough, full-length rubber, textured for grip, routine but effective. The result is an update which retains the performance, fit, and ride of a shoe that has gained a loyal following. Updates the Instinct/Intuition 4.0.
