IN ITALY WE RUN LIKE THIS

Due to the pandemic, like many other events worldwide, this year's edition of the "Venicemarathon" was a virtual competition - at least for almost everyone. To ensure the event continuity, the organizers held a parallel "One for All" special edition: three athletes were invited to run the marathon in-person and symbolically represent all the thousands of runners who could not participate this year due to the Italian government restrictions. The three participants - a man, a woman, and an athlete in a wheelchair - covered the distance together in three and a half hours.

RUNNING SHOES REVIEW

BROOKS HYPERION ELITE 2 - Brooks' approach to racing the marathon, at the elite level, has been to focus on each characteristic of their racing shoes. The Hyperion Elite 2 has built on the findings of the Hyperion Elite, and philosophically to the original Hyperion series of a generation ago - with an emphasis on fit and performance. The upper remains the same as the Hyperion Elite, fine, closed mesh which is thinned down, with perforations over the toes, to secure effectively, while shedding weight. The lacing is straight forward, though with some options to adjust the fit, and the sueded ankle collar/heel features a raised foam bead to add security. The midsole is Brooks new supercritical foam, DNA Flash, which has a lively feel as well as durable longevity. The shoe's stiff feel is provided by a carbon plate which runs from heel to toe and follows the contour of the sole. The outersole is rubber, paired back to minimal strips in the heel and a lattice in the forefoot, textured for grip and toughened for durability. The elements combine for a shoe that fits well, has a protectively generous stack height with efficient rolling, courtesy of the carbon fiber plate to manage your next marathon. Updates the Hyperion Elite.

Testers: "Rolls great with a pop to the next stride. Smooth on foot, no irritation or sloppy feel with the fit. Feel fast, with good results on the road. Definitely my choice for long races on the roads."
